What are these “Spheres?”

SPHERES © are graphic art by Portland, Oregon based artist/designer Matthew Haggett. These computer-designed pieces are vector art, meant for mechanical output. While they have been rendered in print and digitally, in ink (tattoo ink, that is), and silkscreen (see tee shirts, custom work), SPHERES evolved out of Matthew’s use of cut vinyl in his graphics work and artwork and are intended, first, as large scale wall graphics.

So they’re wall art?

Yes. Big decals. SPHERELAB works in partnership with internationally renowned wall graphics company, BLIK, who produce and deliver thoroughly consumer-tested temporary wall decals that a novice can install easily and remove easily, without causing damage, on most surfaces. BLIK, offering four SPHERE constellations since January, 2005, has sent hundreds of SPHERES into orbit and gained national press attention with SPHERES vehicles applications (see gallery, press, vehicles, BLIK).

How do I put them up?

It is easy. You can do it with a credit card. It is faster to put up a SPHERE than to hang a painting. They arrive rolled up in a tube, you take them out and apply them to your walls, floors, cars, etc. (see how to, open instructions).

How do I move them?

You can’t. I know, sure you can try but you really can’t. They’re site specific and/or temporary. If you want to permanently own SPHERES, you can, but that is custom work. When you’re done with your SPHERES, you can remove them easily (see custom, how to).

How do I remove them?

Just peel them off. Usually, you won’t need any tools. Worst case scenario, warm them up with a hair drier & they will come right off (see how to).

How do I buy them?

It is easy. You can do it with a credit card. Or if you have a PayPal account, better still. SPHERELAB uses PayPal to handle the financial transaction with the most widely respected secure payment service on any of the internets.

How long does it take to get them?

A couple weeks. 5-8 days for production + shipping.

And I get…. what? Lots of little decals to piece together? That seems hard!

No! Each SPHERE is on one sheet of backing paper with a sheet of transfer tape over it. They come rolled up in a tube with instructions and other stuff. It is really easy (see how to).

What happens when I sign up with
SPHERLAB? Is it safe?

SPHERLAB will not send you unsolicited mass emails (aka SPAM) or share any of the data you enter with 3rd parties. SPHERLAB does not contain any credit card information and is protected by standard secure protocols (see terms & conditions for privacy, payment processing).

Will SPHERES really make me cooler? Maybe even get me some play?

While SPHERLAB'S position is that individual adjustments to coolness vary on a case by case basis, we are pretty sure that, yes, people will think either a) that you are wildly further out on the cutting edge than they previously believed you to be or b) that you are, indeed, that one in the crowd, that style maven, who is always a sesque-step ahead of the curve. On the other hand, your ‘frequently asked questions’ so far paint you as kind of a nervous Nelly (“Is it safe? Is it too hard for me to do?”) and SPHERLAB can’t overcome personality issues and necessarily get the boys or the ladies to engage you in make-out sessions.

Is that all the frequently asked questions?

No. But SPHERLAB has clearly had too much coffee and needs to stop typing for now. So far, no one has asked questions enough to gauge frequency. Do you have a question? Ask SPHERLAB. (contact)

Have questions? Maybe they're among SPHERELAB'S frequently asked questions.

If not, feel free to contact the lab.
