How to design:
Use the SPHERELAB wall composer to create a SPHERES constellation that will work for you. The composer includes visualization features that let you adjust the wall color and environmental scene (bedroom, living room, office, party scene) as well as the sphere attributes (kind, size, and color). The composer scenes also includes a grid feature in so that you can measure the wall you are composing for and see your custom constellation against a 1’X1’ grid.
Click a sphere at the top and it will appear on the wall. Drag it around, edit its size and color using the interactive tools. Use the delete button to get it off the wall. Combine up to 6 spheres per constellation. You can save up to 6 constellations. To save constellations, sign up with SPHERELAB. With your email address and password you will be able to save your constellations to review, order, or re-order later.

For some design ideas, look at the LAB'S stock constellations in the Store and check out what is in the gallery.
Tip: want to share your constellations with a friend? Sign up with your email and a generic password (like “password”)  so that they can log on as you@youremail.com and see what you’ve designed.

How to get a price:

If not signed up, during BETA, you will need to sign up to begin pricing and saving constellations. Only email and name (and password) are required and your information will not be misused (see terms). Once signed up, click order and you will see pricing information. You won’t actually order anything until the end of the order process, after you are sent to PayPal to pay for you order.

How to order:
Using SPHERELAB’S on-line order process, the user is led through confirmation steps which place their order in a shopping cart and take the user to PayPal where payment is processed. When payment is confirmed by PayPal, your custom SPHERES constellation will be fabricated by award-winning wall art firm, BLIK and shipped to the users’s address of choice (no post office boxes). During BETA, the shopping cart will undergo further integration. Please report any technical issues, questions, or problems to support@spherelab.com

How to apply:

SPHERES apply easily to most flat, clean surfaces. Glossy paint (and similar adhesion-resistant finishes), rough textures, and dirt can make application more difficult. Most application processes are very easy (walls, floors). Glass is slightly more difficult (easy plus). Vehicle applications can range from easy to medium or advanced difficulty.

How to move:

SPHERES can not be moved. Only removed. When peeled off, the decals are destroyed. They’re time- and site-specific. Ephemeral. Isn’t that nice? If you want to own a SPHERES constellation or custom installation in such a way that it is quasi-portable, including limited reproduction rights, a CD, and artist materials, SPHERES can be added to a collection. See custom work for more information on available options.

How to remove:
Ususally, you can just peel them off without any tools beyond a fingernail. Go slowly at first.
If applied to a wall surface that has an unseen flaw, such as incompatible paint layers that do not adhere properly or paint that did not cure properly, vinyl can pull off surface paint. This is infrequent as most walls are prepared properly and BLIK decal materials are specially designed and extensively field-tested to be removable. SPHERELAB can not be responsible for damage in removal.

How temporary are they?
Applied vinyl can be removed after a day, a month, years, or never. Hypothetically, they could be more permanent than your average painting.  SPHERES can also be 'owned' in a more permanent sense (with a data CD, documentation, limited reproduction rights, etc.). See custom work for details on that. Or philosophy for how permanent and temporary is a false duality.

How to clean your SPHERES:
No special cleaning products are required. Vinyl is extremely durable and can be cleaned with Windex, soapy water, floor cleaners, car cleaners (carwash=yes), cleaning wipes, etc. Don't use oven cleaner, kerosene, or try to burn them off the walls. Vinyl would probably be fine with kerosene, actually -- I'm just saying: use common sense. Vinyl is more durable than most of the surfaces it will be applied to.

How to do a car:
Flat areas and gentle curves are easy. Compound curves (a new Beetle’s fender) and seams are more difficult. Some preparation and a few tools may be required. [open]

How to do glass or plex:
To apply SPHERES to plex or glass, use the tips on this instruction page. It can be an easy or slightly more advanced application. Mostly, just get the surface really clean.

How to do custom work:
The SPHERES are an open symbol and a symbol for openness. There are boundless possibilities and SPHERELAB will be glad to work with anyone on custom work of any size. Matthew Haggett, the man behind the lab, has been a top professional level graphic production manager, directing the fabrication and installation of graphics for Microsoft and Cisco’s trade show programs as well as internationally recognized interpretive centers and corporate environments (see www.9thprime.com) – as well as numerous custom permanent and temporary SPHERES installations.

Whether your budget is $50 or $50K,
SPHERELAB comes with national-level design and production talent, including full multi-phase remote design and a 3-person Portland, Oregon based installation team with 40 years combined professional graphic production & installation experience – in addition to Los Angeles, California based BLIK’S installation professional. If you want 20 of the same spheres in bubble gum pink or have an RFP for a corporate environment, SPHERELAB will respond promptly and endeavor to give you the best product at the best price. contact.

How to get a SPHERES tee-shirt:

If you just can’t wait – because they are hella cool – open a tee-shirt spec-sheet here and tell SPHERELAB what you want: size (S, M, L, XL), sphere design (A through F), sphere color (white, tan, brown, black), shirt color (many many choices). You'll get the sphere of your choice, front & center, 5.75” diameter. That will be $18.95 including S&H to orders@spherelab.com but during BETA, until the tee-shirt designer is built and integrated, you’ll have to communicate your shirt specs & mailing address to me by email, also at orders@spherelab.com.
